No impairment is suspected, but routine toxicology samples have been collected and submitted for analysis.

The crash is still under investigation.

“Buckle up is the most effective way to protect yourself while driving or riding in a vehicle. It can reduce the risk of serious injury or death in an accident, and it only takes a few seconds. Please remember to fasten your seat belt before beginning your journey, no matter how short the journey,” said a statement from the Louisiana State Police.
