Pirate Softball Rally remains undefeated in PCL action

On Tuesday evening, Continental High Softball looked for a pair of 2’s. Their second win in the Putnam County League and their second win in a row. Host Columbus Grove put a run on the scoreboard in the second inning to take the early lead. In the next half inning, the Pirates would take the lead by scoring twice. Pirates 2-1. The Pirates would add a pair of insurance runs in the 6th as Pirate Pitcher Gracie Homier and a near perfect Pirate defense kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard. Pirates 4-1 win.

The Pirates only managed 3 hits, but made them count. Gracie had a double and a single, scored a pair of runs and drove in a run to lead the Pirates. Mallorie Barnhart hit the other hit, she also scored a double and drove in a run. Becca Stark scored the other Pirate point. Macie Clemens walked and stole a base.

Gracie Homier got the win for the Pirates over the 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, 10 strikeouts and no walks. The Pirates committed one error, while the Bulldogs had three.

Continental improves to 3-4 (2-0 PCL) and hosts Upper Scioto Valley on Thursday. Columbus Grove falls to 4-4 (1-2 PCL).
