Brewers place DL Hall on 15 days IL, remember Jared Koenig

The Brewers have sent left-handed pitcher DL Hall to the injured list with a left knee sprain, with fellow lefty Jared Koenig of Triple-A Nashville recalled to take his place on the active roster.

Hall struggled in Saturday’s win over the Cardinals, which lasted just three games 23 innings and allowed four runs on five hits and five walks with three strikeouts. That’s two straight short starts for Hall after making just three 13 innings against the Orioles last Saturday, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk with four punchouts.

Through four starts this season, Hall has a 7.71 ERA, having allowed four home runs, 27 hits and 10 walks in 16 games. 13 innings with 13 strikeouts.

Manager Pat Murphy said Hall twisted his knee while bunting in the second inning on Saturday, using the word “mild” to describe the injury, according to Adam McCalvy.

Todd Rosiak added that Murphy said Bryse Wilson and Robert Gasser are in play for the rotation moving forward.

Koenig, 30, made two appearances for the Brewers earlier this week before being sent back to Triple-A on Wednesday. He threw 3 23 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

In four relief appearances with the Sounds this season, he has a 1.93 ERA over 4 23 innings with two hits and two walks allowed while striking out eight.
