With impressive performances including victories at the 2021 New York Pro and Arnold Classic, it is no surprise that fans were eager to see him dominate at the highest level. He reached third place at the prestigious Olympia stage in 2022. Although he finished second to Samson Dauda at the 2023 Arnold Classic, he was still considered a huge frontrunner for the Mr. Olympia stage.

Sadly, bodybuilding fans were left shocked and devastated when Nick Walker was forced to withdraw from the majors due to a hamstring and calf tear. Walker has been recovering in recent months and recently announced that he will compete in the 2024 New York Pro in search of another victory and his qualification for the Mr. This year’s Olympia.

Nothing can stop Nick Walker as he gets closer to the podium. In a recent YouTube video, Walker showed off his grueling back workout five weeks before the 2024 New York Pro. He also discussed how he has approached training for the current season.

“I’m a big believer in the Dorian Yates style approach, but we’re going to tone it down a bit when it comes to training to failure. It’s not necessarily going to fail on sets, but I can add a set or two to exercises to create a volume approach. As far as I’m concerned, that works.”

Before finishing his workout, Walker decided to squeeze in some hamstring curls, further strengthening his leg after last year’s disastrous injury. He added that his weight is decreasing and he is getting leaner day by day.

“That’s back, rear delt, a little hamstring training. I haven’t even been out for five weeks yet. Yes. There’s not really much to say.”

The weight is now going down. Things are really starting to get tight in terms of my body fat. It’s getting tight. Everything is tightening up now. I definitely notice that we are getting slimmer. Sleep isn’t starting to get so warm.’

With his eyes on a second New York Pro title, Walker gave his thoughts on his latest training session:

“That’s part of the process. We are reaching the four-week mark. This is meal. This is the final stage. This is the four week out mark. Here we separate the men from the boys, the lion from the sheep. We all know that I always triumph in the face of adversity. I don’t expect anything other than to have another ring around my neck,” Walker said.

Although Walker has yet to qualify for the Mr. Olympia 2024, bodybuilding veterans have backed him as a notable threat heading into the big event. Recently, bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler opened up about Walker’s potential and suggested he could ‘possibly’ be the Mr. Could win the 2024 Olympia title when he takes on champion Derek Lunsford and Hadi Choopan.

The 2024 New York Pro is on May 18; when the show is over, fans will have a clearer idea of ​​where Walker stands regarding Olympia. In the meantime, ‘The Mutant’ continues to train intensively in the hope of making an unforgettable return to the stage.
