HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall softball (21-23) lost the rubber match of its series against Coastal Carolina (29-19) 12-3.

Redshirt sophomore Brooklyn Ulrich hit her 10th home run of the season on the first pitch she saw in the first inning.

Ulrich finished the weekend with six hits on 10 at-bats (.600) with four RBI and three doubles.

The Herd played from behind, with the Chanticleers scoring 12 runs on 12 hits and a grand slam in the 4th inning.

Initially, the team rallied from an early 3-1 hole in the 2nd, with hits from Fate Washington, Riel LucasAnd Sydney Bikkel.

Freshman pitcher Emily Cole kept Chanticleer’s offense quiet in the 5th, pitching a scoreless inning in relief in her first appearance since March 3.

Cole and the defense were helped by an incredible leaping grab from midfielder Kasia Parks
