Prime Minister candidate named Deputy Amir

KUWAIT: Prime Minister-designate Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah took the constitutional oath to become deputy Amir on Sunday in the presence of HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal previously signed a decree appointing Sheikh Ahmad as deputy Amir while he was abroad.

The Amiri Decree states that this designation remains valid until the appointment of a Crown Prince, and that the Prime Minister must comply with this decree and inform the National Assembly. The Amiri order will take effect as soon as it is published in the official gazette.

Interim Prime Minister HH Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, who declined to form the new cabinet, was also appointed deputy Amir shortly after his appointment as Prime Minister three months ago.

HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal also received at Bayan Palace on Sunday the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Justice and the Court of Cassation Dr. Nobility Majed Bouresli. HH the Amir also hosted the event at the Bayan Palace. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah.
