Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood has a surprising reaction to Layton dancing

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood gave a rare standing ovation to Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin in tonight’s semi-final as he described their Charleston as the best he had seen on the show.

Tonight’s episode (December 9) saw the remaining four celebrities – Layton, Ellie Leach, Annabel Croft and Bobby Brazier – battle it out for a spot in the final, with each couple performing two routines for the first time.

Layton and Nikita’s second dance of the evening, a spectacularly energetic Charleston, wowed the judges and audience alike, with even the pickiest judge of them all standing up to applaud their performance.

“That was the best Charleston I’ve ever seen in 20 years, baby, on this show,” Craig said to prolonged applause, with fellow judge Motsi Mabuse noting that her co-star “had said it all.”

Fans of the show reacted excitedly to Craig’s gesture one viewer writes on X: “the way I just yelled at Craig, just stand up and clap. I’m so happy for Layton”. Another fan also enjoyed the moment, to write: “Craig stood up. He was right. Layton was incredible!!”

It’s no surprise that the pair were awarded the maximum 40 points for the routine, after the 36 they achieved for the Rumba. Adding to the 40 they received last week, the pair topped the leaderboard with a whopping 116 points out of a possible 120.

Ellie and Vito Coppola were in second place with 111, followed closely by Bobby and Dianne Buswell with 107. Annabel and Johannes Radebe were at the bottom with a score of 98, with the public vote deciding which two couples will be in tomorrow’s dance-off will participate. .

Come dance strictly airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while it is a spin-off Strictly speaking: it takes two airs weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
