Tipperary Under 20 footballers believe they can get a good result against Kerry

Tipperary Under 20 football manager Niall Fitzgerald was delighted with his team’s six-point win over Clare in the Munster Championship in Ardfinnan during the week, which keeps them alive in the Championship as they prepare for their final Stage 2 match against Kerry at Austin Stack Park , Tralee, next Wednesday evening.

“We put on a show,” he said.

“The big criticism I have of the boys is that we weren’t clinical enough. We knocked off I don’t know how many chances in the second half and that was disappointing. In terms of honesty and work rate we tried to play football and I was happy with that.

“Our subs, as is our hallmark this year, once again came in and made an impact and every one of them who came in that day made an impact. That was brilliant.

“We will see how the Kerry game goes, we are in the hunt. We have to go for it and get a result in Kerry.

“This group believes that we are capable of doing that and we fully believe in it. The final score was six points and we know that it could have been much more and that is something we have to work on.

“If we can improve the finishing I think we will give Kerry a good game.”

Wednesday’s match in Tralee starts at 7pm.
