Morgan Wallen on his arrest in Nashville for reckless endangerment

American singer and songwriter Morgan Wallen spoke out earlier this month about his arrest for reckless endangerment in Nashville after allegedly throwing a chair from the roof of Chief’s, a six-story bar owned by fellow American Eric Church, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

The musician took to X (formerly Twitter) to make his first public statement after being taken into custody on April 7.

“I didn’t feel right coming out publicly until I made amends with some people,” he wrote. “I have been in contact with the Nashville Police Department, my family and the good people at Chief’s. I am not proud of my behavior and I accept responsibility.”

He continued: “I have the utmost respect for the officers who work every day to keep us all safe. As far as my tour is concerned, there will be no change.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, according to Nashville news station WSMV-TV, Wallen’s arrest affidavit noted that witnesses saw the artist pick up a chair, throw it over the roof and laugh about it around 10:45 p.m. local time. The chair landed three feet away from two Metro Nashville Police Department officers.

“On Sunday evening at 10:53 p.m., Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct,” Wallen’s attorney, Worrick G. Robinson of Worrick Robinson Law, said in a statement at the time. “He is fully cooperating with the authorities.”

Wallen’s arrest comes two years after a February 2021 video showed him using the N-word and other expletives. Following the video’s premiere, the artist put himself through treatment after completing “hour 72 of a 72-hour bender.” His music contract with Big Loud Records was subsequently suspended indefinitely.

To expand

In 2022, he returned to the Billboard Music Awards after being excluded from the awards ceremony and took home the award for Top Male Artist. Since then, Wallen has received several nominations at music awards shows, and his sold-out One Night at a Time tour remains one of the most anticipated of 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
