Travel warning issued as there are no trams running between Rochdale and Oldham

Passengers are being warned to expect disruptions in parts of Greater Manchester while engineering work takes place. There will be no trams running between Rochdale town center and Freehold, in Oldham, today (April 21).

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) says the closure of the Metrolink line is for improvement work. It means no trams will run to Westwood, Oldham King Street, Oldham Central, Oldham Mumps, Derker, Shaw and Crompton, Newhey, Milnrow, Kingsway Business Park, Newbold, Rochdale Railway Station or Rochdale Town Center stops.

Passengers on Freehold can only travel towards Manchester. A bus replacement service runs all day.

TfGM says the bus will serve all tram stops between Rochdale and Freehold. Buses are expected to run every 15 minutes.

The last service from Rochdale to Freehold is expected to leave Rochdale town center at 11.38pm, while the last service from Freehold to Rochdale will operate at 12.30pm. Services are expected to return to normal tomorrow (Monday).
